11 am - Tashkezar

Tashkezar present a groovy and refreshing retelling of classics, lesser known gems and original music from the Arabian Middle-East, from Turkey and Greece and from the Balkans. They are a 7-piece super-band with members from Egypt, Uzbekistan, France and the UK. Led by Egyptian-Montenegrin singer songwriter Mariam Ali, Tashkezar takes their audience on a mellifluous ride with their line-up of lead female and male vocals, violin, Greek bouzouki, trombone, electric bass with darbuka and cajon percussion. Previous gigs include Boomtown Fair, Henley Festival, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Cairo Jazz Club and Green Note, Camden.

12 noon The Crooks Saxophone Quartet

The Quartet plays a varied repertoire covering light classical, pop and jazz hits. With original arrangements, and a fresh and surprising take on some well known melodies, they’ll open your ears to new possibilities of sound from the full saxophone family.

1 pm Helen McDonald's Future Groove Four

From an early age singer/songwriter Helen McDonald was influenced by the great jazz singers Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, and the jazz funk, soul of The Stylistics, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. The chances are you will have been wowed by Helen either performing at top events such as The London Jazz Festival, Womad, The Pizza Express (Dean Street), Jazz Cafe, or Trafalgar Sq (2017 Africa Day). The band’s rhythm section consist of bassist Lesley Booth, Kofi Adu On drums, and Yul Emirali  on keys/piano.

2pm John McClean and the Clan

This great live band combines elements of the blues, soul, gospel and rock into their own unique and mighty sound. Expect gritty and passionate vocals, original songs and tight and funky backing. The members are John McClean on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Jennie McClean on vocals and percussion, James Daniell on blues harp and vocals, Alastair Murray on lead guitar and vocals, Geoff Holden on bass, and Ben McClean on drums.
