Sarah L. King

Jazz vocalist and songwriter Sarah L King comes to the Herne Hill Music Festival with her fantastic trio for an evening of jazz standards & soul and groove-led tunes, including a few originals from her highly acclaimed album released earlier this year. Sarah started singing in soul & gospel choirs before emerging as a solo artist, fronting her own quartet & gaining popularity on the London jazz scene.

During Lockdown Sarah turned to songwriting, the result of which was the launch of her debut album Fire Horse, produced by Claire Martin OBE. Sarah comes from a musical heritage, her Dad a jazz trumpeter, her Grandmother a concert conductor. Her unique phrasing and ability to imbue an emotional depth to lyrics have brought Sarah much recent acclaim.

Her music has featured on Jazz FM as Single Of The Week, as well as BBC Radio 3 Jazz Requests, and Helen Mayhew’s True Brits. A regular at Jazz venues such as Toulouse Lautrec and Piano Smithfield, and a recent sell-out success at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Sarah is continuing to rise in popularity and appeal.
